Reviews “I had been toying around with joining crossfit again but it was always “someday” or “eventually.” Then one day I was sitting around being lazy and thought “If I don’t do this NOW I never will, so I messaged Lacey right then and joined! And I’m so glad I did!In the 2ish months since I’ve joined I’ve seen some awesome results/improvements in pretty much all areas, both mentally and physically and I’m doing things that I couldn’t when I first started:- My stamina has increased. -The amount of reps I can do of any given movement has increased.- The weight I’m able to add to my lifts has increased. (Weightlifting makes you feel like total badass, btw)- My confidence has increased.- My mental clarity has increased.- My overall wellbeing has increased.What I love most about this gym is the sense of community and lack of judgement. I started as (and still am) a bigger, rather unfit person but not once have I been made to feel bad for that or like I don’t belong there. I never feel bad for lifting less than someone cuz ya know what? I’ll be able to add more weight the next time. I never feel bad for being the last to finish a workout cuz ya know what? I still FINISHED it and everybody else is there to cheer you on. The coaches here are also all pretty stellar! There’s so many different personalities but every single one of them has been great! They help you with scaling the workout when needed, give advice when you’re not sure of how to do something, and like the other members, they’re always there to cheer you on! There really is something for everybody here, no matter your current ability or fitness level, so come check it out! I’ve been to different gyms and either their overwhelming or intimidating due to to many people and no knowledge of use of equipment. CrossFit Kenex is one of the gyms I’ve never felt out of place, discouraged, or the dreaded doom and run straight back to the car. Ok, maybe it was a speed walk, but you get the point. The Programming takes the guesswork out of the training for the day. The coaches are knowledgeable, kind, funny, and encouraging. My fellow gym members always bring you up in either the you’ve got this or that random joke, making you laugh, especially on those rough days. The coaches will help with modifications when needed, and don’t worry, I still modify after 9 years. They encourage but don’t force new movements on people and offer alternatives if they are not comfortable with the written movements. With that being said, CrossFit Kenex is my gym family with a whole lot of heart and amazing souls. I had attended an open house and after one class, I thought I can do this. After 6 months of training, I felt I learned how to work out in an entirely new way that has helped to restore my muscle mass and confidence in myself. While I have always worked out, the trainers taught me how to work out with free weights and core exercises. I have not injured myself because the trainers work one with each participant to ensure that I am using the correct form. Joining the Crossfit gym is one of the things I did when I turned 70 that I felt changed my life. My hand-eye coordination has improved. It has also enhanced my cognitive abilities. ALL of the trainers have been very attentive. The workouts are geared appropriate for my age and my strength as a Senior. I am always so happy when I am there and have completed a session. I highly recommend this gym to any senior who has maintained some degree of fitness. Lastly, if you want to, Crossfit does offer some competitions that allow people to test their abilities (however you do not need to do competitions if you do not want to). I came in extremely overweight and frustrated with my lack of activity in my life. When I came in to class that first day it was very intimidating but I quickly found out that there were people who were at different stages in their abilities. Every movement in the workouts can be scaled for each individual. I love that the classes are all coach led with pre-programmed workouts. The friends and workout partners that I have made are some of the best friends that I have ever had.
